The issue of period poverty amongst students has been included in the Programme for Government 2020. Along with mental health supports, and SUSI eligibility, the programme agreed on in June includes plans to provide a free range of period products in publicly-funded educational settings. Nearly 800 children contacted Childline on Christmas Day

Nearly 800 children and young people contacted Childline on Christmas Day. Volunteers at Ireland’s 24-hour listening service for children yesterday received 793 calls, online contacts and texts from young people nationwide, a decrease from the 1,267 contacts received on Christmas Day 2018. Dublin pitches closed due to damage caused by joyriders

A number of football pitches in south Co Dublin have been closed after joyriders caused extensive damage over the weekend. Photographs and video posted to social media show deep grooves and tyre-track scarring in the pitches and the remains of a burnt-out car. Gardaí in Cabinteely responded to a report of a car driving around Kilbogget Park at approximately 4.36am on Saturday; a car was on fire when officers arrived at the scene.
