Robyn Kilroy

I am a 24-year-old multimedia journalist from Dublin. I am a graduate of the MA in Journalism at NUI Galway, and before this completed my undergraduate in Music and Film Studies at Trinity College Dublin.


I have a lot of interest in digital journalism, and have experience in SEO Optimisation, utilising User-Generated Content and Verification. I also have TV broadcasting, studio skills and live radio experience. I have proficient skills in visual and audio editing and have used Logic Pro X, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier Pro, Audition. I also have sub-editing skills and have experience in using InDesign and Photoshop. I am skilled also in Data Journalism and have used Tableau and Flourish to create data visualisations. I also have experience in financial journalism and completed the Bloomberg BMC course online


In Trinity College, I contributed a lot to student media. I wrote for Tn2, University Times and Trinity Film Review. I became editor for Trinity Film Review in my final year, and during this time edited and published two print issues and a continuous stream of online content. I also was editor for DU Music's annual academic music journal Writings About Music (2019).


At NUI Galway, I have contributed to Student Independent News (SIN), and Flirt FM. 


I also have bylines with The Irish Times, The Connacht Tribune, The Galway City Tribune.

Period Poverty amongst Irish students addressed in new Programme for Government

The issue of period poverty amongst students has been included in the Programme for Government 2020. Along with mental health supports, and SUSI eligibility, the programme agreed on in June includes plans to provide a free range of period products in publicly-funded educational settings. Nearly 800 children contacted Childline on Christmas Day

Nearly 800 children and young people contacted Childline on Christmas Day. Volunteers at Ireland’s 24-hour listening service for children yesterday received 793 calls, online contacts and texts from young people nationwide, a decrease from the 1,267 contacts received on Christmas Day 2018. Childline said that many of the young people who contacted them described their feelings of anxiety, grief and loneliness on Christmas Day, as well as descriptions of substance abuse in the home. Dublin pitches closed due to damage caused by joyriders

A number of football pitches in south Co Dublin have been closed after joyriders caused extensive damage over the weekend. Photographs and video posted to social media show deep grooves and tyre-track scarring in the pitches and the remains of a burnt-out car. Gardaí in Cabinteely responded to a report of a car driving around Kilbogget Park at approximately 4.36am on Saturday; a car was on fire when officers arrived at the scene.
